The August 5 update adds advanced driver-assistance system considerations to information covering three more familiar post-collision observations: visible exterior damage, changes in panel fit or operation, and changes first noticed while driving.
Shadow Lake Collision developed the update to address the difference between conditions a vehicle owner can readily observe and technical procedures that cannot be determined from appearance alone. This distinction has become relevant as cameras and sensors are incorporated into exterior areas that may also be involved in collision repairs.
Drivers can document visible changes such as dented panels, cracked bumper covers, displaced trim, damaged lamps, or paint damage. Changes involving doors, hoods, liftgates, bumpers, and adjacent panels can also provide useful information if those components fit or operate differently after an accident.
The update also identifies changes first noticed while driving, including an off-center steering wheel, pulling, unfamiliar vibration, or new noises. Such observations can have multiple causes and are included as information to document rather than evidence of a particular collision-related condition.
The newly added technology portion addresses impacts involving areas where advanced driver-assistance system components may be located.
