A customizable smashburger leads a limited-time lunch lineup with fall-inspired beignets and seasonal cocktails
New Orleans, LA (RestaurantNews.com) Some people like their burgers simple. Others want to stack on the toppings, pile on the sauce and add a fried egg for good measure. Ruby Sunshine is bringing that anything-goes attitude to its seasonal menu, with savory dishes, early-fall sweets and new beverages available now at participating locations.
The Build Your Own Burger ($13.25 single, $15.75 double) is a customizable adventure, starting with a single or double smash patty on a brioche bun. From there, guests can go classic with American or cheddar, or select toppings like pickled red onions, grilled portobello or fresh jalapeño, then finish with sauces ranging from remoulade and Creole mustard to apple cider-bourbon BBQ. For those who believe there’s no such thing as too much on a burger, add-ons include bacon, a fried egg, bacon-onion jam, chorizo, avocado and an extra patty.
Guests looking for a lighter choice will enjoy the Kale Chicken Caesar ($18) featuring chopped kale, grilled chicken, parmesan, breadcrumbs, lemon and Caesar dressing.
On the sweeter side, Ruby Sunshine is giving its beignets an early-fall makeover with Candied Apple Beignets ($7.25), served with candied apple compote, vanilla mascarpone and apple cider caramel.
The drink menu shakes things up, too. The Apple Cider Mule ($10.50) combines vodka, apple compote, apple cider, ginger beer and lime, while the Whipped Strawberry Mimosa ($11.50) layers strawberry purée, lemon, coconut, sparkling wine and cold foam.
“We got a little playful in the kitchen recently, challenging each other to give our guests some delicious combinations they might not expect from us,” said Chef Marla Chua, culinary director for Ruby Sunshine. “We wanted the burger to leave plenty of room for interpretation, whether you want to keep it simple or build an over-the-top masterpiece. That same sense of flexibility carries through the rest of our seasonal menu, with options for something lighter, something sweet or something to sip.”
The early fall menu will be available at participating Ruby Sunshine locations from Sept. 2 through Sept. 29, while supplies last.
