New ceratiq® Science Expands Skin Health Benefits to Include Sensitive Skin and Dermal Density

PR Newswire

Study also shows support for the collagen-rich foundation of healthy skin

MORRISTOWN, N.J., Oct. 12, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- PLT Health Solutions, Inc. today announced new clinical research on ceratiq® Phytoceramides that expand the ingredient's benefits beyond hydration and wrinkle appearance to the structure of skin and the reactivity of sensitive skin. The two randomized clinical studies demonstrate improvements in sensitive-skin measures and dermal density, adding new dimensions to one of the broadest and highest-quality scientific programs in the oral phytoceramide category.

ceratiq is a gluten-free wheat lipid extract rich in phytoceramides. It supports skin from within by helping maintain barrier integrity and supporting the dermal matrix — the structural foundation associated with skin density, firmness, hydration and a smoother appearance. Available in oil and powder formats, ceratiq can be used in dietary supplements, functional foods and beauty-from-within products at a clinically supported daily dose of 350 mg.

According to Sid Hulse, Vice President of Product Development for PLT Health Solutions, the new studies strengthen both the scientific and commercial story for ceratiq. "Consumers increasingly understand collagen as the foundation of beautiful skin. ceratiq gives product developers a differentiated way to participate in that conversation by supporting the collagen-rich dermal matrix while also delivering the hydration and wrinkle benefits consumers can see and feel," he said. "Just as important, these studies are part of a research program unmatched in its breadth and quality in the phytoceramide category — with seven human clinical studies, hundreds of participants, research conducted at multiple independent laboratories and validated methodologies that produce credible, reproducible results. I am not aware of any beauty from within product, especially phytoceramides, that has more studies that support the depth and breadth of functional benefits that ceratiq has."

New Research for Sensitive Skin

In a clinical study of 60 women with sensitive skin confirmed by lactic acid stinging test, taking 350 mg ceratiq or placebo, ceratiq significantly reduced transepidermal water loss (TEWL) and reduced erythema.

TEWL is an objective measure of the amount of water that escapes through the skin and is widely used to evaluate barrier integrity. Erythema was assessed using a standardized redness-scoring scale. After 90 days, ceratiq produced a significant improvement in erythema compared with both baseline and placebo, demonstrating that the benefits extended beyond subjective perceptions of sensitive skin.

The results show that ceratiq strengthens skin barrier function and reduces visible redness in people with sensitive skin. Preclinical research provides additional support for reduced skin-reactivity signaling, helping explain the benefits observed in the clinical study.

New Research for Dermal Density

In a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study in 40 healthy women with dry to very dry skin, 350 mg/day ceratiq improved dermal density, skin hydration, firmness, and wrinkle appearance.

Dermal density was assessed using ultrasound, while firmness was evaluated using a Cutometer — instrumental methods that provide objective measures of changes in skin structure and mechanical properties, an assessment unique to ceratiq in the beaty from within category of dietary supplements. Improvements in dermal density were evident after 30 days and were significant compared with placebo at 90 days. Skin firmness was also significantly improved versus placebo at day 90, showing that the structural changes translated into a measurable functional benefit.

"These studies move the ceratiq science into important new territory," said Jennifer L. Murphy, M.S., R.D., Head of Innovation and Clinical Science for PLT Health Solutions. "The sensitive-skin study connects stronger barrier function with reductions in TEWL and visible redness. The dermal density study uses validated instrumental methods to show improvements in the structural matrix of the skin, along with hydration, firmness and wrinkle appearance. Together, they demonstrate meaningful support for both the structure and function of healthy skin. These are groundbreaking results in the beauty from within category of dietary supplements , and unique to ceratiq in this market.

An Unparalleled Body of Clinical Science

The new findings build on more than two decades of ceratiq research. Earlier clinical studies demonstrated increased hydration beginning at four weeks and reduced wrinkle appearance beginning at eight weeks, with benefits maintained for eight weeks after supplementation ended. Across the program, ceratiq has been evaluated in seven human clinical studies involving hundreds of participants. The studies have been conducted at multiple independent research sites and employ validated methods including corneometry, ultrasound, Cutometer measurements and established wrinkle-rating scales.

"The number of studies matters, but study quality matters just as much," Hulse said. "With ceratiq, brands get the confidence that comes from a deep, consistent body of evidence, with repeatable results, a clinically substantiated dose and science that supports a broader, more compelling beauty-from-within position."
