OTTAWA, ON, July 31, 2026 /CNW/ -- Her Excellency the Right Honourable Louise Arbour, Governor General and Commander-in-Chief of Canada, will stay at her residence at the Citadelle of Québec for the first time from August 4 to 10, 2026.
During her stay, Her Excellency will receive military honours from the Royal 22e Régiment, visit Canadian Forces Base Valcartier and meet with community organizations in the city.
While in Québec, the Governor General will also informally attend cultural and tourist activities, including the Grands Feux Loto-Québec and Les Fêtes de la Nouvelle-France.
This first visit is intended to help make connections with the Citadelle de Québec and the local community. An official visit to the province is planned in the coming months.

The Governor General will meet newcomers being welcomed and supported by the Carrefour d'action interculturelle.

The Governor General will take part in a Maison des jeunes activity that will give her the opportunity to speak with young people from the region.

The Governor General will meet with the organizers of the La grande journée des petits entrepreneurs and a few young, inspiring entrepreneurs from the Mycélium incubator.

Military honours from the Royal 22e Régiment
As commander-in-chief, Her Excellency will receive military honours from the Royal 22e Régiment, which will include the inspection of a guard of honour of 100 military members, the Viceregal Salute and a 21-gun salute. This will all take place in the presence of Batisse, the Régiment's famous goat mascot.
Please note that members of the public must have an admission ticket for the Citadelle for August 7 to attend this event.
