ADARE, Ireland, Sept. 16, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Adare Manor, the award-winning five-star castle resort, today unveils Magnus Éirí, a 12-meter-high monumental sculpture of oak, bronze and gold leaf, conceived by internationally acclaimed Irish artist and designer Joseph Walsh. Standing in the formal gardens, the four-ton masterwork represents the tallest sculpture crafted by Joseph Walsh Studio to date.
Commissioned in 2021 after an eight-year research journey and five years of meticulous design and fabrication, Magnus Éirí required more than 5,000 hours of craftsmanship from 25 artisans across Ireland, Italy, and Europe.

Rather than imposing a predetermined shape, he works free-form, allowing the natural elasticity of the wood to help shape the final piece. The bronze, marked with the imprint of his thumb, represents human intervention and aspiration, while its continuous flow into the oak expresses the symbiotic relationship between humanity and nature.

ÉIRÍ, meaning rising in Irish, refers to the movement of the nearby River Maigue and the ascending and descending shape of the sculpture. It echoes the relationship between humanity and nature, as seen in the landscape around the sculpture in Adare – the river meandering through the land, with man-made castles and monasteries scattered along its banks, charting intertwined histories over the centuries.
